Adriana Kessler, LL.M.
Adriana Kessler is a Research Associate and PhD candidate in the MeDiMi project “Human Rights Transformations of German Migration Law”. In her research, she addresses legal interventions of NGOs in the field of German migration law in legislation and jurisprudence. She aims to understand the scope, forms, and consequences of the expansion of human rights within German migration law. Adriana Kessler has studied law in Germany and Italy as well as French law at the Centre Juridique Franco-Allemand at Saarland University. She passed her first state examination in law at Saarland University with a period abroad at the University of Pisa (Italy). She then specialized in European human rights protection as part of the Master of Laws (LL.M.) at the Europa-Institut of Saarland University. Adriana Kessler completed her second state examination in law in Berlin and Brandenburg. She then worked on human rights issues at the German Bar Association (DAV), the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and JUMEN e.V. – Legal Human Rights Work in Germany. Adriana Kessler has been admitted to the bar since 2017. She is co-founder and board member of JUMEN. Her research interests lie in the areas of fundamental and human rights protection, international and European law, and migration law.
