She works on topics related to migration, health, and affects from a social anthropological perspective and earned her PhD at Leipzig University. The thesis “Affective Gaps. Shelter Life, Social Work and Sentiment in a German Refugee Shelter” explores the political tensions of global migration, using affective dynamics in the shelter as a lens. Her work offers a new approach to understanding acute emotional and psychological stress among young refugees, going beyond the concept of trauma. Prior to that, she worked on the intersection of anthropology and medicine in an interdisciplinary research project on healthcare for asylum seekers.
